The Khor Virap Monastery and the Mountain Ararat are dsplayed inside this oval plate accordng to the Armenian painting traditions. The Monastery is the place, where St. Gregory the Illuminator (Surp Grigor Lusavorich) was imprisoned for around 13 years. Then he became the first Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The ornaments on the edge of the plate are taken from Armenian decorative art. The plate is made of clay. It is made and ornamented manually. The plate is glazed.
